Washington High School football player Evan Gaither is the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week, sponsored by First State Community Bank.
Gaither, a junior running back, had a huge game for the Blue Jays in their regular season finale against Francis Howell Central on Thursday, October 21. He carried the ball 25 times for 241 yards and scored two touchdowns in Washington’s 35-21 home victory.
The Blue Jays (6-3), winners of four straight games, are seeded third in Class 5 District 4 and open action against sixth-seeded Capital City at home on Friday, October 29. The winner will meet second-seeded Helias in the district semifinals on Friday, November 5, in Jefferson City. Holt is the top seed in the district.
