WMS Challenge DonationWashington Middle School Challenge students raised money throughout first quarter for non-profit Missouri River Relief through their creative entrepreneurship projects - it was their annual "Challenge Entrepreneurs for Charity" project.

The students raised $550 over the course of several weeks while learning about the ins and outs of business creation and marketing. These were career-focused skills that include every aspect of building a business, starting with brainstorming and marketing, continuing with production of a creative original product, and ending with sales and promotion.

“I make this project a charity focus, as I feel that allows the students to give back to the community and increase their empathy for causes important to us all,” said WMS Challenge instructor Stefanie Virgen. “We chose Missouri River Relief as I'm a volunteer on their local Washington planning committee and after learning more about their community service for our state, the students felt their mission was very important.”
