Washington Middle School Outdoor Ed, Outdoor Academy Students Focus on Hands-On Skills
Posted on 05/02/2023
WMS Outdoor Ed, Outdoor Academy Washington Middle School Intro to Outdoor Ed and Outdoor Academy students in April focused on hands-on skills related to Missouri native fish, native plants, and Missouri state certification in hunting.

April learning for the students included creation of their own fishing lure styles, harvesting native flowers to make red bud jelly, and hands-on stations practice in hunters' safety.

One student, Ian Mueller, gifted his fishing lure proudly to his mom, who then used it in a bass fishing tournament to land a large bass.

Stefanie Virgen’s students shared red bud jelly with family and teachers.

Students were awarded state certification in hunters' safety and education after participating in two-week trainings.
