Washington High School baseball player Sam Paule is both the KLPW Radio and the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week.
Paule, a senior shortstop, played a major role in the Blue Jays’ historic season on the diamond.
Hitting second in the lineup, Paule posted a batting average of .363 (41 hits in 113 at-bats) with four home runs, 24 RBIs, nine walks, 24 stolen bases, 36 runs scored, an on-base-percentage of .463 and a slugging percentage of .584.
Defensively, Paule made a number of excellent plays with his glove at shortstop.
The Blue Jays finished the 2023 season with a record of 27-9, the most wins in the history of the WHS baseball program. They won the GAC Central title, which was their first conference championship in 32 years.
Paule will continue his academic and baseball career at State Fair Community College in Sedalia.
