Jaime Opfer Blue Jay Pride AwardJaime Opfer, math instructor at Washington High School, is the February recipient of the Blue Jay Pride Award.

The Blue Jay Pride Award was introduced to recognize and showcase quality School District of Washington staff and the focus on the District’s core beliefs. Through peer nomination, individuals are able to acknowledge exceptional staff who positively impact the schools, district and community.

The individual who is recognized each month will be presented with a traveling plaque and a gift card.
Opfer’s nomination form stated the following:

“Jaime has been a hard-working teacher day in and day out. She does countless research in the summer months to prepare for each year. I teach the same subject as Jaime and always have her bouncing ideas off of me to help improve our students. She is active in the building with committees and coaching, provides a safe space for students, displays a welcoming classroom, and is always in contact with her students' parents. I cannot think of a more deserving person for the Blue Jay Pride Award.”

Opfer was presented the Blue Jay Pride Award traveling plaque by SDOW Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart. She also received a Fas-Trip gift card from First State Community Bank. Representing First State Community Bank was John Freitag.
