National FFA Week Kicks Off With Agricultural Career Fair at Washington High School
Washington High School is celebrating National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Week February 20-23.
Chris Dunard, WHS Agriculture Education instructor and FFA adviser, and his students are participating in activities at WHS.
FFA also is hosting a canned food drive at WHS during the week.
Tuesday, February 20
An agricultural career fair took place in the Little Blue Jay Gym. There were approximately 30 businesses and groups on hand to visit with students. The science department took their students on a 20-minute rotation to the career fair. Photos from the career fair are below.
Wednesday, February 21
FFA members will be wearing their official FFA dress to show their pride in the organization. FFA members also will be participating in Cherry Pie Day. Members will be delivering a piece of cherry pie to WHS staff and will be delivering cherry pies to supporters and sponsors.
Thursday, February 22
Tractor Day: There will be some FFA members driving their tractors to school on Thursday. Judging will take place in the morning. During seventh hour, there will be a tractor parade in front of school at 2:40 p.m. The rain date is Monday, February 26.
FFA BBQ Lunch: The FFA BBQ lunch will take place. Students will be preparing and serving a BBQ pork burger lunch during all three lunch shifts to staff. Members who wear official dress and bring cherry pies in will be eating BBQ as well.
FFA Barnwarming: FFA members will be participating in an FFA dance in the shop that evening. The official name is Barnwarming, but it will be held at school.
Friday, February 23
Dunard will be taking 40 FFA members to Purina Research Farm in Gray Summit during the morning. These members are the most actively participating members in the FFA Chapter that have agreed to follow the strict Bio-Security measure needed to enter the Research Farm.
