Logan Schamerloh Named South Central District Student Council Advisor of the Year
Washington Middle School Student Council Advisor Logan Schamerloh has been named the Student Council Advisor of the Year for the South Central District.
The Missouri Association of Student Councils committee choose two student council advisors in the South Central Region for the award, one on the high school level and one on the middle school level.
Nominations for the South Central Student Council Advisor of the Year are accepted from students, staff, and administrators. This recognition is a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and passion that advisors strive to bring to supporting student council members.
Schamerloh teaches science and leadership at Washington Middle School. She’s been the student council advisor for six years. Her nomination stated the following:
“Logan has been working for years with STUCO on making our climate at WMS a positive, fun place for students to learn and grow. They work with her leadership class to offer breakfast and luncheons periodically to staff, Blue Jay Brew in the mornings for students and staff, and buying picnic tables for outside for students to enjoy. They plan the fall festival, holiday assembly, Spring Fling for the entire student body, and boo grams. They have won the canned food drive several times for the holiday drive. They decorate throughout the building. They plan the Valentine Day dance/activities, and are involved in a ton of different activities throughout the year and into the summer. She is very deserving of this honor and works tirelessly for our building and within the community of Washington. Our building would not be the same without her efforts with students and her listening ear to their ideas for WMS.”
Schamerloh has been sponsoring WMS Student Council since 2019, with an increase in membership every year. They work on several activities and competitions during the school year. Some activities include fall festival, winter assembly, cupid craze, spring fling, canned food drive, PB&J Drive, penny wars, boo grams, thankful turkey grams, and candy grams for Valentine’s Day. They most recently made birthday cake boxes and donated to Loving Hearts, and volunteered at South Point Elementary Trunk or Treat.
Schamerloh will be recognized at the Missouri Association of Student Councils State Convention in March and is eligible for the Missouri Student Council Advisor of the Year.
