In order for our emergency response plans to be effective, we must depend on the cooperation and assistance of many people, including the parents of our students. Your cooperation is vital for protecting the safety and welfare of all students and district employees. Therefore, we ask parents to observe the following procedures during a crisis situation:
DO:
- Visit our District Website.
- Check you phone for voicemail and SMS text messages from our School Messenger mass notification system.
- Tune in to local radio and television stations, including KLPW (1220 AM), KLPW (101.7 FM), KSLQ (1350 AM), KSLQ (104.5 FM), KTVI (Channel 2), KMOV (Channel 4) and KSDK (Channel 5) for emergency announcements and status reports.
- Talk to your children. Emphasize how important it is for them to follow instructions from school officials and first responders during an emergency.
DO NOT:
- Do not call the school. We understand and respect your concern, but it is essential that the telephone lines be available for emergency communications.
- Do not call or text your student's mobile phone. We understand and respect your concern, but it is essential that the telephone lines be available for emergency communications. Mobile phones should only be used to provide information to first responders.
- Do not come to the school or evacuation location until you are instructed to do so. It may be necessary to keep the streets and parking lots clear for emergency vehicles. If an evacuation is required, students may be transported to a location away from the school. You will be notified of this through a variety of emergency message methods.
