Washington High School cross country runner Grace Owenby is the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week.

Owenby, a freshman, continued her tremendous season by finishing in fifth place at the Class 4 District 2 meet in Bolivar, helping the Lady Jays to a berth at the MSHSAA Cross Country Championships.

Owenby has medaled in six of the team’s seven meets this season, including a top 25 finish at the Louisville Classic. She became the first freshman from Washington to win the GAC Central conference championship. She’s also a member of the WHS cheer team.
