Washington High School Leadership Class Sends Thank You Cards From Students to Military
The Washington High School Leadership class is in the process of completing a project of collecting, packing and shipping thank you cards and letters to United States soldiers stationed across the world.
The Leadership class collected the thank you cards and letters from students and staff at Washington High School. They exceeded their goal of 1,000 cards by collecting a total of 1,054 thank you cards.
Each November, to coincide with Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, Student Council hosts their 1,000 Thanks campaign. The goal is for students and teachers to write 1,000 thank you letters to military members and frontline responders throughout the month. Donation boxes are set up in each office at the high school with guidelines for letter writing. After the campaign is complete, Student Council sends the letters to Operation Gratitude for distribution.
Operation Gratitude sends thousands of handwritten letters of appreciation, love and support to military and frontline responders.
“Thank you so much to all who participated in writing these thank you letters for our soldiers,” said WHS Leadership student Eleni Kriete. “We couldn't have made this dream a reality without your help and support for our country.”
