Washington NJROTC Orienteering Team Competes at Championship Meet
The Washington High School NJROTC Varsity Orienteering team attended the Area 14 and 15 Orienteering Championship meet near Cincinnati, Ohio.
“The team walked away with pretty impressive results,” said Senior Chief Nathan Hernandez, Washington NJROTC Instructor. “They represented Washington High School and our program very well.”
Orienteering develops both mental and physical skills. Team members learn how to read terrain symbols, use a compass, and plot points on a map. As a member of the orienteering team, you will travel across a variation of terrain at distances up to three miles.
Washington NJROTC received the final results from its Area Manager Master Gunnery Sergeant (retired) Jason Rampa.
Washington varsity as a team placed third overall as a team out of 20 teams. The Washington team placed fifth over the entire meet.
Washington will represent Area 15 at Navy Nationals.
Cadet Preston Wood placed third overall out of 114 runners. Cadet Jackson Laubinger placed fourth overall out of 114 runners.
