Wrestling Lady Jays Compete at Wonder Woman Tournament
The Washington High School varsity girls wrestling team competing in the Wonder Woman Tournament at Battle High School in Columbia on Friday and Saturday, January 3 and 4.
The Wonder Woman Tournament is one of the largest high school girls wrestling tournaments in the Midwest.
“It was a good measuring stick to see how we match up with the best girls not only in Missouri, but across the Midwest,” said Washington Head Wrestling Coach Josh Ohm. “I thought we wrestled well and now we know what we need to work on and what we need to do to jump levels for the postseason, which is quickly approaching.”
Leading Washington at the tournament was senior Maggie Ortmann, who reached the finals and finished second at 145 pounds, posting a 5-1 record at the event, improving to 21-1 on the season.
Also reaching the podium for the Lady Jays was sophomore Cydni Buchanan, who recorded a seventh-place finish at 100 pounds. Buchanan was 5-2 at the event, improving to 24-3 on the season.

Gracie Shaw, a junior, posted a 2-2 record at 105 pounds, improving to 14-8 on the season.
Lindsey Mueller, a senior, registered a 5-2 record at 110 pounds, improving to 16-8 on the season.
Abbie Weber, a sophomore, notched a 2-2 record at 115 pounds, improving to 16-8 on the season.
Gracey Garner, a freshman, posted a 2-2 record at 120 pounds, improving to 12-12 on the season.
Jordyn Keiser, a freshman, registered a 1-2 record at 125 pounds, moving to 6-12 on the season.
Lily Buchanan, a freshman, notched a 2-2 record at 130 pounds, improving to 10-9 on the season.
Addi Kriete, a freshman, posted a 1-2 record at 135 pounds, moving to 10-10 on the season.
Bri James, a senior, registered a 4-2 record at 140 pounds, improving to 21-5 on the season.
Ariyanna McGee, a junior, was 0-2 at 155 pounds, moving to 6-13 on the season.
Gwen Hillermann, a sophomore, posted a 4-2 record at 235 pounds, improving to 16-9 on the season.
