Jordan Scheer Children's Relay for Life Set for Friday, April 25; Registration Deadline March 14
The 20th Annual Jordan Scheer Memorial Children’s Relay for Life is scheduled for Friday, April 25, at Scanlan Stadium on the Washington High School campus from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
This year’s theme is “Sailing for a Cure!”
The event for students currently in grades 3-6 is put together by the Washington High School student council and leadership class. Proceeds are donated to the Franklin County Relay for Life and benefit the American Cancer Society and cancer awareness. Approximately $410,000 has been raised in the 19 years of the event.
Event chairs are seniors Josie Kluesner, Cooper Guss and Luke Mauchenheimer, and juniors Madelyn Ley, Emma Grafrath and Nathan Oreskovic.
The relay is named in honor of Jordan Scheer, a WHS graduate who lost his battle to cancer shortly after his graduation in 2005.
Third through sixth grade students from area schools will participate in the event. They must have already registered to attend.
Students are encouraged to fundraise for the event and participate in the poster/essay contest. Details are on the event website and on the flyer that was sent home.
