Baseball Blue Jays Fall Short in Pitcher's Duel Against Union
Washington High School continued its varsity baseball season with a home matchup against Union at The Fields at South Point on Tuesday, April 1.
The varsity game was a pitcher’s duel as the Blue Jays fell short in a 1-0 decision.
Washington right-hander Mason Theis pitched all seven innings for the tough-luck loss, allowing one unearned run on two hits with five walks and six strikeouts.
Union scored the lone run of the game in the top of the second inning.
The Blue Jays, coached by Dane Gough, did threaten to score at times, but failed to push a run across the plate.
Colton Carrier collected two hits for Washington and Ben Gelinas added one hit. Theis drew a pair of walks.
Washington defeated Union in the junior varsity game, 3-2.
