Washington High School Golfer Owen Zastrow Named KLPW Radio Athlete of Week
Washington High School golfer Owen Zastrow is the KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week.
Zastrow, a sophomore, finished in a tie for eighth place at the MSHSAA Class 4 Boys Golf Championships Monday and Tuesday, May 19 and 20, at Silo Ridge Golf & Country Club in Bolivar.
On the par 72 course, Zastrow captured all-state medalist honors with rounds of one-over par 73 and six-over par 78 for a total of seven-over par 151. He was only 11 shots behind the Class 4 winner, Peyton Smith of Summit Christian Academy.
“Owen is Steady Eddie. He didn’t have any blow-ups. He’s just so steady. He plays the game conservatively, right down the middle, and that’s what you need in golf,” said Washington Golf Coach Tim Buschmann. “He really enjoyed playing with his Tuesday group. He played with the kids who came in second and third, really good golfers. They both shot under that day. That was a really great mentoring thing for him and something he enjoyed. He never really felt any pressure through the whole tournament. He was confident. He’s played in some other big tournaments, which helped.”
