Washington High School Students Attend Missouri Scholars Academy

Two Washington High School students recently completed the three-week state-funded Missouri Scholars Academy held on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.

Ella Raeker and Nathan Oreskovic were among 330 rising juniors selected from throughout the state from both public and private high schools.

Each high school could nominate up to two students for consideration. Students were then selected based on standardized test scores, high school transcripts, essays, and letters of recommendation. While at the Academy, students were exposed to a wide variety of courses, extracurricular activities, and guest speakers.

The Academy offers unique opportunities for students to enhance their academic skills, assimilate the accumulated knowledge of the culture, relate to contemporary issues; deepen understanding of themselves and their unique abilities, and engage others in critical-thinking and problem-solving activities.
