Connecting Education to the Real World
In a rapidly evolving world, the divide between education and real-world application is shrinking, and Connect Washington is at the forefront of this transformation. This innovative program within the School District of Washington (SDOW) is a collaborative effort that bridges students with local businesses, equipping them with the skills, experiences, and connections necessary to thrive in their future careers.
What is Connect Washington?
Connect Washington is an initiative designed to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities by partnering with the local business community. Through programs like mentorships, internships, job shadowing, and the popular Lunch and Learn sessions, Connect Washington ensures that students have a clear view of potential career pathways while gaining invaluable professional skills. We are thankful to have partnered with the City of Washington, Downtown Washington, Inc. and The Washington Area Chamber of Commerce to provide insights on business and industry needs in our area.

- Students who engage in RWL are 80% more likely to graduate on time, according to studies by the Alliance for Excellent Education.
- In schools with robust RWL programs, students report a 60% increase in understanding how classroom lessons connect to real-life applications.
