Washington High School Cheerleaders Place Second at Regionals, Qualify for State Competition
Competing at a MCCA (Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association) St. Louis Regional at Lindbergh High School on Saturday, September 21, the Washington High School varsity cheerleaders finished in second place in the 4A Small Division.
With their second-place finish, the WHS varsity cheer team qualified for the state event, which takes place on November 2 at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
“The girls have worked super hard to get back into the top 2 category. 4A Small is a notoriously difficult division with a lot of talented teams year after year,” said Washington Cheer Head Coach Jaden Heien. “I am impressed with their performance and looking forward to improving our routine even further for state.”
Varsity cheer team members are Makayla Bleckman, Lauren Bowen, Summer Day, Abigail Goebel, Chloe Halliburton, Mackenzie Helms, Olivia Jensen, Alison Karll, Isabelle Koopman, Hazel Koper, Ruby Mitchem, Ella Mueller, Grace Owenby, Gabby Riley, Maycee Rion, Lilly Thornton and Paige Walch.
The team is coached by Heien and Kristi Fitzpatrick.
The WHS Cheerleaders will continue to perform at varsity football games while preparing for the state event and will do the same this winter at basketball games.
