Robert Redmond - Blue Jay Pride Award
Robert Redmond, music teacher at Labadie Elementary and Washington Middle School and High School band instructor, is the October recipient of the Blue Jay Pride Award.
The Blue Jay Pride Award was introduced to recognize and showcase quality School District of Washington staff and the focus on the District’s core beliefs. Through peer nomination, individuals are able to acknowledge exceptional staff who positively impact the schools, district and community.
The individual who is recognized each month will be presented with a traveling plaque and a gift bag.
Redmond’s nomination form stated the following:
“Mr. Redmond is very deserving of the Blue Jay Pride Award simply because he highlights education, especially fine arts education, in the very best way here in the School District of Washington. Mr. Redmond has high expectations for his students in our music education setting, but he also shares his musical talent and expertise with our middle and high school students. Mr. Redmond works with students at the elementary level followed by travel to the middle school and high school to assist with our band members. He has worked hard to build relationships with all students, learn music standards, teach music standards, and work with the marching band. Mr. Redmond has worked closely with other music and band teachers as he has taken on a shared role this year. He is always energetic, positive, and a great example of an amazing teacher. We are so very fortunate to have Mr. Redmond in the School District of Washington.”
Redmond was presented the Blue Jay Pride Award traveling plaque by SDOW Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart. He also received a gift bag from the Bank of Franklin County, represented by Becky Buhr.
