Washington High School Student Lainey Ahal Becomes First Female Eagles Scout in Area
Washington High School sophomore Lainey Ahal recently earned her Eagle Scout badge through the Boy Scouts.
Ahal earned the achievement after years of hard work, dedication and commitment. Only 5 percent of Scouts ever receive the program’s highest award.
While this is a prestigious award under normal circumstances, Lainey is the first female Eagle Scout in the Osage Scouting District, which covers southern Warren County, northern Crawford County and all of Franklin County. She’s only the 89th girl to earn the award among over 25,000 Scouts in the Greater St. Louis Area Council. The post she belongs to is the only all-female group within the district, which is based in Villa Ridge.
Lainey is the daughter of Matt Ahal and Lacy Walker. Her father is a longtime Scout leader and an Eagle Scout himself. He also founded the girls troop that Lainey is with.
As a student at Washington High School, Lainey is involved in band and the culinary arts program. Her favorite class is culinary arts.
