Service Learning Day Connects Washington High School Sophomores With Community
Sophomores at Washington High School took part in a Service Learning Day on Tuesday, October 21.
Nearly 300 students divided into small groups and traveled by bus to various businesses, schools, and city landmarks throughout the community to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
Service learning is a teaching approach that combines community service with academic learning to help students develop civic responsibility, leadership, and real-world skills.
The Service Learning Day supports the School District of Washington’s Connect Washington initiative, which provides students with opportunities to build relationships with community members and potential employers before graduation.
