School District of Washington Selected for District Spotlight in Missouri Administrator Magazine
The School District of Washington has been selected for the District Spotlight feature in the upcoming winter issue of Missouri Administrator magazine, a statewide publication that highlights excellence and innovation in K–12 education.
The District Spotlight will showcase the work taking place throughout the School District of Washington and the efforts of its students, staff, and leadership to support high-quality educational experiences.
Missouri Administrator magazine is a professional quarterly publication produced by the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) for education leaders across the state. Launched in fall 2025, the magazine is designed to inform, inspire, and connect superintendents, administrators, and school leaders throughout Missouri. Each issue includes leadership articles, district spotlights, policy and legislative updates, wellness features, professional development resources, and stories that highlight innovative practices and challenges facing Missouri schools.
To prepare for the feature, MASA Executive Director Dr. Mark Penny and MASA Communications Director Chelsea Blair visited the School District of Washington on Thursday, January 8. During their visit, the MASA team met with Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart and toured multiple district facilities to gain a deeper understanding of the district’s programs and initiatives.
Throughout the visit, Kephart and district administrators highlighted Connect Washington from a leadership, essential skills, and Diploma Plus perspective, while also showcasing the progression of student learning and opportunities from the elementary level through high school.
The tour included stops at the Board of Education building, Four Rivers Career Center, Washington High School, Washington Middle School, and South Point Elementary. While at Washington High School, the MASA team also met with a student panel during its lunch session, providing an opportunity to hear directly from students about their experiences and perspectives.
The MASA team met with a student panel at Washington High School to discuss a variety of topics. Students who participated in the panel were Ella McAfoos, Kaleb VanWeelden, Eleni Kriete, Nolan Wieland, Colin Briggs, Madelyn Ley, Alyssa Deppe and Makayla Meyer.
The upcoming District Spotlight feature will provide readers across Missouri with an inside look at the School District of Washington and the work being done to support student success, staff development, and community engagement.
