Colin Briggs, Dayton Griesheimer Named Washington Missourian Athletes of the Week
Washington High School boys basketball player Colin Briggs and girls swimmer Dayton Griesheimer are the Washington Missourian Athletes of the Week.
Briggs, a 6-3 senior forward, has been a big part of the Blue Jays’ success this season. He’s averaging 7.1 points, 7 rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting 52.6 percent from the field, and 58 percent on two-point shots. He finished with 20 points and nine rebounds in a recent win over Ft. Zumwalt West.
“Colin is asked to do a lot for us,” said Washington Coach Tim Isgrig. “He is one of the area leaders in rebounds and assists and is a huge part of our success.”
Griesheimer, a senior, completed her high school career swimming a personal best time at the GAC North/Central meet in the 200 individual medley to win the event. She placed third in the 100 backstroke with another personal best time.
Griesheimer was a member of the second-place 200 medley relay team and the fourth-place 400 free relay team. Both relays accomplished best times at the conference meet and improved their state consideration standings.
