SDOW Leaders Give Proposition W Community Tour of Washington High School
A community tour of the Washington High School campus in relation to Proposition W took place on Tuesday evening, March 10.
Community members, staff, students and parents were invited to take a guided tour of the Washington High School campus. During the evening, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about Proposition W, see key areas of campus, and ask questions.
The tour covered areas of the high school that will be renovated with a passing result, such as hallways, floors, colors, science classrooms, the culinary arts classroom, locker rooms, the weight room, CJB Theatre, and the area around the West Wing entrance where a safety vestibule will be added. All district buildings will be impacted by Prop W, not just the high school.
Leading the tour were SDOW Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart, Assistant Superintendent John McColloch and Director of Buildings and Grounds Jeff Solter.
Appearing on the April 7 ballot, Proposition W is a $22 million, no tax rate increase bond issue that will focus on modernizing learning environments across all district buildings - improving safety, accessibility, and instructional spaces so students can succeed.
Proposition W reinforces the School District of Washington’s mission to foster student achievement, build strong character and support personal growth through responsible stewardship and forward looking investment in our community’s future.
This no‑tax‑rate‑increase bond proposal is a responsible investment in our community’s future. It builds on the district’s long‑range plan to improve every school, modernize Washington High School, strengthen safety and accessibility, expand Career and Technical Education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) opportunities, and create better learning environments for all students—without raising the tax rate. It ensures our facilities keep pace with student needs, supports strong academic programs, and protects the community’s long‑term assets, all while being financially prudent.
