High School Readiness
High School Readiness
High School Readiness shows how prepared a student is for success in grades 9-12. Districts can use one of several approved Interim Assessment tools to measure the impact of instruction on student learning. This impact is identified as either status (performance at a point in time) or growth (performance over a specific period of time). The Interim Assessments help inform students of their progress in understanding grade level standards and support teachers in providing effective instruction.
Fastbridge and Interventions
Our District uses Fastbridge as an Interim Assessment tool to measure the impact of instruction on student learning. This impact is identified as either status (performance at a point in time) or growth (performance over a specific period of time).
The Interim Assessments inform students of their progress and inform teachers of the effectiveness of instruction. Identifying “growth to mastery” within the school year or across school years is the goal.
All students grades K-8 are screened 3 times a year in Reading and Math. We then use screening data to identify students who display indicators of concern and place them into Interventions according to their needs. These interventions use a systematic reaearch-based approach to addressing learning needs and closing academic gaps.
Students who are placed in Interventions are also Progress Monitored once a week using Fastbridge. This data provides additional information on the student’s growth and the success of their intervention.
Teachers, Interventionists, and Administrators use the triangulation of multiple data points (Screening, Progress Monitoring, Grades, etc.) to drive their decision-making.
Understanding the Data
Interim Data is analyzed in three different ways:
GROWTH
Describes the extent to which a student’s growth trajectory estimates they are “on-track” to demonstrate a foundational understanding of grade level standards by the end of that academic year.
ACADEMIC READINESS
This describes a student’s level of academic content knowledge at a point in time.
ACADEMIC READINESS by GROWTH
This quadrant combines the academic readiness measure with the growth measure to describe the extent to which students are growing as expected to demonstrate understanding of grade level standards.
