WHS Seniors Hope Jett, Taylor Carpenter Named Distinguished Student Leaders
Washington High School seniors and student council members Hope Jett and Taylor Carpenter have been named Distinguished Student Leaders by the Missouri Association of Student Councils.
The Missouri Association of Student Councils Distinguished Student Leaders Program was created to motivate and challenge student leaders to extend their leadership skills and activities.
It is a way for MASC to recognize students who demonstrate superior student council leadership skills and knowledge based on MASC criteria and evaluation procedures.
To become a MASC Distinguished Student Leader, students must be members of their student council in MASC member schools and graduating at the time they submit their applications. The standards for the Distinguished Student Leader program reflect the core purposes and mission of student councils.
Additionally, the evaluation procedure has been designed so that the bulk of the process takes place at the school level with the results being forwarded to MASC for the final assessment. This facilitates a process that will help students become more proficient in self-assessment practices and better able to organize and build a record of evidence focused on their student council and related leadership activities.
The MASC Distinguished Student Leader designation will be bestowed upon any student that has shown evidence of being a knowledgeable and effective leader and has met the program criteria upon high school graduation.
The following contains the eligibility standards and activities for students to become a MASC Distinguished Student Leader.
Student must have participated at least two years in their high school student council.
