Washington High School golfer Abby Blackwell is the KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week.

Blackwell, a senior, is a three-time state qualifier, earning all-state honors last season with a 10^th place finish in the Class 3 team standings, leading the Lady Jays to a third-place team finish.

Blackwell is off to a strong start in her senior season, earning medalist honors as the top individual in Washington’s first two meets against Ft. Zumwalt South and Winfield with nine-hole rounds of 35 and 37, respectively.

Playing at the Washington Tournament at Wolf Hollow on Monday, September 8, Blackwell carded an 18-hole round of one-under par 70 to capture the individual title. She is the first golfer in the history of the WHS girls program to register an under par 18-hole round. It’s the third year in a row Blackwell has won the individual title at the Washington Tournament.
