Washington High School Celebrates National FFA Week
Washington High School celebrated National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Week February 21-28.
Chris Dunard and Emily Kassebaum, WHS Agriculture Education instructors and FFA advisers, and their students participated in activities at WHS. A canned food drive also was hosted by FFA during the week. See photos below of some of the week-long activities.
Monday, February 23
FFA members from Sullivan, St. Clair, Union, New Haven and Washington partnered with Meals of Hope and packaged 52,000 servings of food to donate to local food pantries in Franklin County. Lunch was provided by Washington FFA alumni. It also was FFA apparel day.
Tuesday, February 24
A career fair took place in the Little Blue Jay Gymnasium. Agriculture career trivia also took place where students answered questions to be entered for a drawing.
Wednesday, February 25
FFA members were dressed in their official FFA dress to show their pride in the organization. FFA members also participated in Cherry Pie Day. Members delivered a piece of cherry pie to WHS staff and delivered cherry pies to supporters and sponsors.
Thursday, February 26
Tractor Day: Several FFA members drove their tractors to school. Judging took place in the morning. During seventh hour, there was a tractor parade in front of the high school.
FFA BBQ Lunch: The FFA BBQ lunch took place. Students prepared and served a BBQ pork burger lunch during all three lunch shifts to staff. Members who wore official dress and brought in cherry pies could eat the BBQ as well.
FFA also took part in club picture day at WHS, getting a group picture taken in the morning.
Friday, February 27
FFA members met with State Officer Cierra Britton. Members also wore their FFA jackets.
