School District of Washington Voters Approve Proposition W
Voters in the School District of Washington boundaries convincingly passed Proposition W during the general municipal election on Tuesday, April 7.
Proposition W, presented by the School District of Washington, was a zero tax-rate increase bond issue focusing on modernizing learning environments across all district buildings - improving safety, accessibility, and instructional spaces so students can succeed. It builds on the district’s long‑range plan to improve every school, modernize Washington High School, strengthen safety and accessibility, expand Career and Technical Education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) opportunities, and create better learning environments for all students - without raising the tax rate. It ensures facilities keep pace with student needs, supports strong academic programs, and protects the community’s long‑term assets, all while being financially prudent.
Overall in Franklin, Warren and St. Charles Counties, there were 5,861 votes casted. There were 4,158 yes votes (70.9%) and 1,703 no votes (29.1%).
