Playing in the first round of the GAC Cup, the Washington High School soccer Blue Jays posted a 1-0 home victory over Winfield on Tuesday, October 7.

The Blue Jays, coached by Parker Smith, made a first-half goal by Gavin Krimmel hold up in the win.

Colin Briggs registered the shutout in goal for Washington.

The Blue Jays improved to 3-8-1 on the season. Four of their losses have been by one goal, including two by a penalty kick shootout.

Washington also owns wins this season over Sullivan 5-2 and De Soto in double overtime, 2-1.

The soccer Blue Jays also will take on St. Charles West and Holt in the GAC Cup event.
