Washington High School Coach Jim Ogle Receives MIAAA Distinguished Service Award

Washington High School longtime coach and retired educator Jim Ogle has been honored with the Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA) Distinguished Service Award, a recognition given to individuals who have made significant, long-term contributions to high school athletics.
Throughout his career, Ogle has been known for his commitment to student-athletes, helping them grow not only in their respective sports, but also as individuals. His dedication to teaching and coaching has left a lasting impression on generations of students, many of whom have carried the lessons learned under his guidance far beyond their high school years.
The Distinguished Service Award is one of the highest honors presented by the MIAAA and recognizes individuals whose service, leadership, and impact have helped shape interscholastic athletics across Missouri. Ogle’s selection reflects the respect he has earned throughout his career from colleagues, former students, and the broader athletic community.
Ogle dedicated 31 years to teaching math and science, including 25 years at Washington Middle School and six years at Washington High School. In addition to his work in the classroom, he has spent 42 years coaching boys and girls track and field at Washington High School and continues to coach today. He’s also a member of the cross country coaching staff, and is a former boys and girls basketball coach.
Beyond coaching, Ogle has been a familiar voice in the community, serving as the public address announcer for Washington High School football for 42 years. During that time, he has missed only one game and continues in the role today.
Ogle and his wife, Terri, a longtime educator, have two grown children, Alex and Jamieson, both of whom he had the opportunity to coach.
Ogle’s decades of service reflect a lifelong commitment to students, athletics, and the Washington community, leaving a legacy that continues to impact generations.
