Washington NJROTC Holds Awards Ceremony

Cadets in the Washington High School NJROTC program were honored for their accomplishments during the 2025-26 school year at the annual Blue and Gold Ceremony, held Thursday, April 30, in the CJB Theatre at Washington High School.
The event brought together members of the School District of Washington’s Board of Education and administration, as well as representatives from civic and military organizations and the NJROTC Booster Club, to celebrate the achievements of the cadets.
Under the guidance of Senior Chief Petty Officer Nathan Hernandez, cadets have participated in a variety of activities designed to enhance their personal and professional development.
School District of Washington Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart spoke during the ceremony. Incoming Superintendent Dr. Cassandra Suggs also was on hand. Other invited guests were Rear Admiral Jeffrey "Scott" Jones and Brian and Catie Lashley.
The Washington NJROTC program has continued to thrive, offering students valuable experiences in leadership, service, and competitive performance. During the ceremony, cadets were presented with medals, awards, and scholarships, recognizing their achievements in marksmanship, academic excellence, community service, and leadership development.
The Blue and Gold Ceremony served as both a recognition of hard work and a celebration of the character, discipline, and commitment demonstrated by the cadets throughout the school year.
