Washington Girls Swimmers Compete in Lone Home Meet of Season
The Washington High School girls swim team had their one and only home meet of the season at the Four Rivers YMCA against Borgia on Friday, January 3.
The meet between the Blue Jays and Knights ended in a tie, 78-78.
Washington’s first-place finishers were Brooke Schoonover in the 100 backstroke and the medley relay team of Schoonover, Ava Stone, Olivia Mahon and Dayton Griesheimer.
Washington’s second-place finishes were Schoonover in the 50 freestyle, Mahon in the individual medley and 100 butterfly, Stone in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Kayla Munson in the 500 freestyle, Schoonover, Stone, Griesheimer and Mahon in the 200 free relay, and Josie Keiser, Paula Marquez, Rylie Gammon and Munson in the 400 free relay.
Washington’s third-place finishes were the medley relay team of Grace Owenby, Peyton Sullivan, Caroline Guinn and Rylie Gammon, Munson in the 200 free, Griesheimer in the individual medley and the 100 butterfly, Keiser in the 100 free, Gammon in the 500 free, Anna Bade, Sullivan, Guinn and Keiser in the 200 free relay, and Owenby in the 100 backstroke.
Senior recognition also took place during the meet. Seniors are Anna Bade, Rylie Gammon and Caroline Guinn.
The Lady Jays are coached by Tracy Moreland and Bob Sander.
