Washington High School Hosts Nix Relays; Blue Jays Place First, Lady Jays Third
Washington High School hosted the annual Russell C. Nix Relays on Wednesday, April 23, at Scanlan Stadium.
Washington placed first in the boys team standings and third in the girls team standings.
The Blue Jays claimed the boys team title with a team score of 86. St. Clair finished second with 77 followed by Owensville (75.5), Union (73), Borgia (70), Blair Oaks (57), Pacific (53), Warrenton (51), Sullivan (48.5) and the St. Louis Blue Knights (27).
North Point captured the girls team title with a team score of 119. Union finished second with 81 followed by Washington (66.5), Blair Oaks (61.5), Pacific (60), Owensville (56.5), St. Louis Blue Knights (45), Borgia (38.5), Warrenton (37), St. Clair (29.5) and Sullivan (25.5).
Washington boys event winners were the 400-meter throwers relay in 50.4, the distance medley relay in 11:26.07, and the 440-meter shuttle hurdle relay in 1:05.2. Second-place finishers were Jack Henderson in the high jump at 1.8 meters, Caleb Matchell in the pole vault at 3.95 meters, and Nolan Hendrix in the javelin at 51.93 meters. Placing third was the 1,600-meter relay team in 3:35.05, Jackson Parker in the shot put at 13.02 meters, and Miguel Coats in the javelin at 43.56.
Washington girls event winners were Alyssa Repke in the discus at 39.19 meters. Second-place finishers were the 400-meter relay team in 51.54 and the distance medley relay in 13:26.28. Placing third was the 800-meter relay team in 1:49.03 and Olivia Jensen in the pole vault at 2.75 meters.
